November Book Giveaway
This contest has ended. Sign up for my newsletter for a chance at future giveaways.
Continuing with my monthly giveaway for readers and fans, I’ve got some new old books to share from my overstuffed library shelves. Instead of giving these away to Goodwill, I’d like to share them with one lucky winner from my mailing list.
I recently posted about a record my band, The P-15s, released during the high point of the punk and power pop era in Los Angles, circa 1977 – 1981. We were a little late to the party and more on the fringes of the punk scene, but getting to see bands such as X, The Blasters and The Go Gos at tiny clubs before they made it big was an experience I’ll always remember. That’s where real rock and roll lives, after all.
John Doe’s Under the Big Black Sun is a great read about the era and how the punk movement developed in Los Angeles. With chapter contributions from scene luminaries like Exene, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey, Dave Alvin, Pleasant Gehman and Henry Rollins it paints a vivid and sometimes frightening portrait of how the movement began at the dilapidated Masque club, how it changed, moved on and eventually fell apart. A fascinating chronicle for anyone interested in the early punk era.
Winner will also receive a signed copy of Ballast Point Breakdown (there’s a punk rock character in it, after all).
If you’re interested, send a message via the form below. Winner will be randomly drawn from all entries received by 12:00 midnight, Saturday, November 20, 2021. Two other randomly selected readers will win a signed copy of Ballast Point Breakdown. Please note I can only send to mailing addresses in the United States.
